How is this different than normal gold plating? 

The industry standard for gold plating is 0.1 microns, and usually has a base metal of copper, brass, or stainless steel. All of our products are plated with 18k gold between 1.0 - 2.5 microns over Sterling Silver, making them last a lifetime. These pieces are the next best thing to pure gold.
